Over a quarter of women aged15-49 years who have been in a relationship have been subjected to physical and/or sexual violence by their intimate partner at least once in their lifetime (since age 15). The prevalence estimates of lifetime intimate partner\r\n violence range from 20% in the Western Pacific, 22% in high-income countries and Europe and 25% in the WHO Regions of the Americas to 33% in the WHO African region, 31% in the WHO Eastern Mediterranean region, and 33% in the WHO South-East Asia\r\n region.\r\n

RESPECT also highlights that successful interventions are those that prioritize safety of women; whose core elements involve challenging unequal gender power relationships; that are participatory; address multiple risk factors through combined programming\r\n and that start early in the life course.

Psoriasis can impact your life in many ways. It affects the way you feel about yourself, the clothes you choose to wear, the way you manage symptoms and the way you care for your overall health. The itch and appearance of psoriasis may get in the way of your life, whether you're at work or school, pregnant, or in a romantic relationship.

People with psoriasis are at higher risk for certain related conditions, like cardiovascular (heart) disease, depression and other mental health issues, and metabolic diseases like type 2 diabetes. These related diseases are known as comorbidities. Learn more through our quick guide on related conditions from the Patient Navigation Center.

Findings from a 2015 research study demonstrated that psoriasis is highly stigmatizing, and carries about the same level of stigma as herpes. Many of the study participants believed the psoriasis was infectious and contagious. Psoriasis is neither infectious nor contagious, and NPF is working hard to change this misconception. You can help by educating those around you in your everyday life.

Tertiary education refers to all formal post-secondary education, including public and private universities, colleges, technical training institutes, and vocational schools. Tertiary education is instrumental in fostering growth, reducing poverty, and boosting shared prosperity. A highly skilled workforce, with lifelong access to a solid post-secondary education, is a prerequisite for innovation and growth: well-educated people are more employable and productive, earn higher wages, and cope with economic shocks better.

Today, there are around 220 million tertiary education students in the world, up from 100 million in 2000. In Latin America and the Caribbean, for example, the number of students in tertiary education programs has doubled in the past decade. This is critical because, according to a World Bank Group (WBG) report, a student with a tertiary education degree in the region will earn more than twice as much as a student with just a high school diploma over a lifetime.

After a heart attack, your doctor might recommend a cardiac rehabilitation program to help you understand nutrition, develop sustainable healthy behavior changes, stick to safe levels of exercise and improve the quality of your everyday life.

Data on the efficacy of treatment modalities in De Quervain's tenosynovitis (DQT) is limited. Paraffin therapy is routinely used in treating hand osteoarthritis and neuropathies. However, there are not enough studies investigating paraffin effectiveness. This study evaluates the effectiveness of paraffin bath therapy on pain, functional status, muscle strength, and quality of life in patients with DQT. This prospective, single-blind, randomized, controlled study enrolled 51 DQT patients. Group 1 (n = 26) received paraffin bath + splint + exercise; Group 2 (n = 25) received splint + exercise therapy. Pain, handgrip strength, thumb palmar pinch strength, functional status, and quality of life were evaluated. Both treatment combinations improved pain, grip strength, palmar pinch strength of the thumb, functional status, and quality of life. The paraffin group provided more effective pain control than the paraffin-free group and was more effective in improving functional status, handgrip strength, and quality of life (p

If high blood pressure isn't controlled with lifestyle changes and medication, it can lead to serious health problems, including cardiovascular disease (such as heart disease and stroke), vascular dementia, eye problems, and kidney disease. The good news is that blood pressure can be controlled in most people.

In addition to recommending lifestyle changes, your doctor will likely prescribe medication to lower your blood pressure to a safe level. Isolated systolic hypertension, the most common form of high blood pressure in older adults, is treated in the same way as regular high blood pressure but may require more than one type of blood pressure medication. You may try several kinds or combinations of medications before finding a plan that works best for you. Medication can control your blood pressure, but it can't cure it. If your doctor starts you on medication for high blood pressure, you may need to take it long term.

Women need health coverage throughout their lifespan including access to preventive health care, such as birth control, to maintain their health and to choose when and whether to become a parent. For women who choose to become a parent or expand their families, good prenatal and maternity care are critically important for healthy pregnancies and healthy children. Pregnant women who lack insurance coverage often delay or forgo prenatal care in the first trimester,Egerter, S., Braveman, P., & Marchi, K. (2002). Timing of insurance coverage and use of prenatal care among low-income women. American Journal of Public Health, 92(3), 423-427. Retrieved 27 March 2018, available here. and inadequate prenatal care is associated with higher rates of maternal mortality.U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Prenatal Care. Retrieved 4 April 2018, available here.

Black women deserve to have safe and healthy pregnancies and childbirth. To meaningfully improve Black maternal health outcomes, we need systemic change that starts with the health care system, improves access to care and makes the places Black women live and work healthier, more fair and more responsive to their needs. Only when we do that will Black women be able to achieve their optimal health and well-being throughout their lifespan, including if they choose to become parents.

We started with the patient. Whether you are working with data in healthcare settings, life sciences, or clinical research, bringing data together in a longitudinal record is powerful, but complex. Too much time is spent trying to unify data, and we wanted to simplify that process so our customers could focus their development dollars on what matters most: improving the delivery of clinical and operational care, fueling precision medicine workflows, and enabling rapid collaboration and research innovation across the health ecosystem. 041b061a72
