Buy Jimmy Choo Shoes

Jimmy Choo is a British luxury fashion house specialising in shoes, handbags, accessories and fragrances. The company, J. Choo Limited,[2] was founded in 1996 by Malaysian Chinese couture shoe designer Jimmy Choo and British Vogue accessories editor Tamara Mellon. The brand claims to have been a favourite of Diana, Princess of Wales.[3] The company was listed on the London Stock Exchange until it was acquired in November 2017 by Michael Kors Holdings, now Capri Holdings.

The brand traces its roots to shoemaker Jimmy Choo who had set up his workshop in the late 1980s out of the converted Metropolitan Free Hospital in the East End of London.[4] He was distributing his shoes at a stall of the local market. He was known by the editors of fashion industry magazines because he could recreate Manolo Blahnik's high-heeled shoes in different colours. Sandra Choi, Choo's wife's niece, joined him in 1989 and quickly became in charge of designing the shoes. In the early 1990s, Choo catered to the global jet set, including Diana, Princess of Wales.[5] "Choo first met Diana [in 1991] when he was summoned to Kensington Palace by the princess after his name across in the Press. 'I was so excited I could not sleep the whole night. In fact I was so scared of oversleeping that I practically stay awaked.' [...] The subsequent meetings were even less formal and they soon became great friends."[6]

The first ready-to-wear shoes were sold in September 1992 at the Gina store on 42 Sloane Street.[7] In the early nineties, Jimmy Choo met with Tamara Mellon who, as a Vogue fashion assistant, would often ask Jimmy's help in customising shoes.[8] After she quit Vogue, Tamara proposed in 1995 to Choo to develop a luxury, ready-to-wear line of shoes. The company was founded in May 1996 when Tom and Ann Yeardye decided to fund their daughter's idea by investing 150,000 in return for 50% of Jimmy Choo Limited and the right to use the name Jimmy Choo. Tamara was made President, Tom chairman.[9][10]

These years were also marked by a growing tension between Choo and Tamara Mellon, with Tom Yeardye often acting as the calming agent. Choo was more interested in couture shoe making whereas the Yeardyes wanted to scale ready-to-wear: "I love the idea of couture and its emphasis on creation. [...] I leave the ready-to-wear to my partner and team."[13] A pair of couture shoes would take two weeks to manufacture with the assistance of eight people.[6]

J. Choo Ltd. has over 600 design patents to its name.[48] The company has brought up several prominent cases for copyright and trademark infringement, as well as being the target of "knock-off" counterfeit imports in the UK, the US and Australia.[49][50][51] The company has sued Oasis, Warehouse and Marks & Spencer for copying shoes and bags.[52][53]

In 2003, having successfully conquered the world of footwear, the British fashion house decided to invest in other markets: fashion accessories, glasses, and above all, leather goods. It now therefore offers a range of handbags, clutch bags and purses in the same vein as the shoes: luxurious, glamourous and more-often-than-not made to match the famous heels. Jimmy Choo's DNA can be found in the sumptuous choice of materials, the fine finishings and also in the hues and original ornaments, as demonstrated by the iconic bags Rebel, Lockett and Raven.

Today, it is not unusual to see the shoes made by fashion house Jimmy Choo on the feet of Natalie Portman, Sandra Bullock or Michelle Obama, to name but a few. Queen of the red carpet, the English brand is currently run by Sandra Choi, the niece of its iconic founder. The latter has been multiplying prestigious collaborations for the past few years - with Karl Lagerfeld, Stella McCartney, Viktor & Rolf, amongst others, but also with major ready-to-wear labels like H&M. After launching a line of footwear for men, in 2012 the brand reissued its iconic models of sandals and heels, named Greta, Brigitte, Marlène and Veronica, as a tribute to the legendary actresses.

Using Lorelai's math, a pair of the stylish stilettos cost $500, which means Michael Kors could have purchased 2,400,000 pairs of Jimmy Choo shoes for the price of acquiring the company. We'll let you do the math on how many years it would take a person to wear all of those.

Louboutin came to Paris in 1981 with a portfolio of sketches of shoes. After interning at Roger Vivier, Louboutin served as a freelance designer, creating shoes for Chanel and Yves Saint Laurent.

After a brief time spent as a gardener in the late 1980s, he missed creating beautiful shoes and so set up his namesake company in 1991. Princess of Caroline of Monaco was his first customer and so the brand quickly grew.

Jimmy Choo, on the other hand, is known for stylish as well as comfortable shoes. The soles are often more padded, with more supple leather around the toes and heel to ensure a more comfortable fit so that you can get hours of wear out of your Jimmy Choo shoes.

The price ranges from both brands are pretty similar. Louboutin offers a few more expensive shoes, with price tags ranging from $350 to $4,895, while Jimmy Choo is marginally more affordable, with shoes available between $250 and $3,125.

In terms of the fit of the shoes from each of these brands, it can really depend on the style so shoe you are going for. If it is you first time buying from Jimmy Choo or Christian Louboutin, it may be worth trying on a few different sizes so you can work out which one feels best.

Generally, Jimmy Choo shoes run true to size, this makes ordering them online a little easier as you can go for your normal shoes sizes and they should fit well. Sometimes, heels or flats with pointed toes can run a small, so if your usual size feels a little tight, just go half a size up to a comfortable fit.

These heels would also make the perfect bridal shoes if you are looking for something super sophisticated. There are more Sacaria heels to choose from on the Jimmy Choo site, including different heel heights if a 4-inch heel is too tall for you. 041b061a72
